News from The Vale
The Stones come into the game off the back of Tuesday’s commendable draw at Forest Green Rovers.
Wealdstone took the lead in the 28th minute thanks to a goal from new signing Fejiri Okenabirhie before the hosts replied ten minutes later through Tate Campbell.
Both teams had chances to win in a competitive second half but there would be no further goals, and The Stones came away with a point against one of the fancied sides in the division.
Wealdstone’s form has improved slightly over the past few weeks, and Saturday’s match represents an opportunity for them to go on a run of three games unbeaten.
They will have to do so without the services of Mason Barrett, who is sadly facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament during Tuesday’s draw. Everyone at Wealdstone wishes Mason all the best with his recovery.
The defender joins an injury list that includes Dion Conroy, Tyrelle Newton, Kyle Smith, Jaydn Mundle-Smith and Jayden Harris.
The Opposition
The Bluebirds have had a mixed start to their campaign after their relegation from League Two last season and currently sit in twelfth position, having won four matches, lost four and drawn three.
Despite this, they come into the match on a run of three wins, having impressively defeated Scunthorpe United 3-0 on Tuesday night.
They have received the second most yellow cards in the division so far this season behind only Kidderminster Harriers.
Wealdstone and Barrow have faced each other on just one previous occasion in a famous FA Trophy win for The Stones in the 2011/12 season at The Vale.
Wealdstone, who were then playing in the Isthmian League Premier Division, went behind just before half-time after failing to clear their lines and allowing Richie Baker to score. The hosts turned it round in the second half, though, with goals from Richard Jolly and Britt Assombalonga giving them a historic 2-1 win over a side from two divisions above.
