WOMENS: “Hungry For More” – Racut positive after promotion

THE ambition for Wealdstone’s Women is clear when you listen to Gabi Racut, Head of Women’s Football for a club which secured a promotion in its inaugural campaign.

Now taking on seven other sides in the Greater London Women’s Football League Division 1 North, it sounds like the female Stones aren’t going to let an opening-day defeat at home to Clapton Community Reserves knock them off-course.

“Last season was about laying the foundations,” explained Racut, who combines a playing role as a forward with the club’s off-field organisation.

“Securing promotion was a fantastic achievement for everyone involved. This season is about building on that and taking the next step.”

She added: “We know we are entering a new and tougher league, but we don’t want to stop where we are. We’re hungry for more and our aim is to establish ourselves at this level, compete and continue moving the club forward.”

With Head Coach Saj Vigneswaran having seen his squad strengthened over the summer, togetherness is a trait Racut highlights about the Stones above all other.

“The girls are more connected than ever,” she added. “That team spirit will be so important as we face new challenges this season.

“We believe our new players add quality and depth to the squad, so we’re excited to see what we can achieve.

“We know it won’t be easy, but we’re ready for the challenge and determined to make this season another important step in the journey of Wealdstone FC Women.”
