Wealdstone Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Wilson Waweru, who joins on a permanent deal.
The 25-year-old has spent most of his career playing in the League of Ireland where he boasts Premier Division experience with Sligo Rovers, scoring nine times in 44 league appearances.
He began his career at Galway United, making his debut at just 17 before going on to make over 80 league appearances.
His time at Sligo Rovers is bookended by spells with Cobh Ramblers, the first, a successful loan that saw him score 13 times in 30 league matches. In his second spell this season, Waweru has added a further four league goals to his tally in County Cork.
The striker spent the last few weeks of pre-season training with the squad and joins in time to be available for our first home match of the Enterprise National League campaign on Saturday against Harrogate Town.
On the signing of Waweru, Stones manager Gary Waddock said: “Wilson has impressed us throughout pre-season with his movement, work rate and quality in the final third. He gives us another strong attacking option and we’re really pleased to have him with us.
“He’s settled into the group quickly and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can bring this season.”
