SIGNED: Dion Conroy Reunites with Gary Waddock

Wealdstone Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Dion Conroy who has joined the club on a permanent deal, subject to FA and National League clearance.

The 30-year-old centre-back joins The Stones having spent the last four years at Crawley Town, where he wore the captain’s armband, leading the club to promotion into League 1 at Wembley in 2024.

 The Chelsea academy graduate has spent most of his career in the Football League, having also made over 120 appearances for Swindon Town, where he won the League 2 title in the 2019-20 season. 

 He joins the squad in time for the start of the new National League campaign, bringing his considerable EFL experience to the backline. The defender is also reunited with Gary Waddock, having previously played under The Stones boss during a loan spell at National League side Aldershot Town in the 2016/17 season.

 On the signing of Conroy, Chairman Rory Fitzgerald said: “We are delighted to welcome Dion to Wealdstone, a player that we have been tracking since last season.

 “Following the departure of Deon Woodman, we wanted to bring in a ready-made replacement and Dion (Conroy) brings a wealth of experience, strong leadership qualities and a proven track record of success. We believe he will be an excellent addition to the squad.

 “I am also extremely pleased with the business we have completed this summer. Following the departure of several important players, it was vital that we added both quality and experience, and I believe we have done that.

 “Patience has been key throughout the window. We have taken our time to recruit the right players, and we are very happy with the group we have assembled ahead of the new season.”
