Enterprise National League action continues as the Stones travel to Staffordshire to take on Tamworth for a Saturday lunchtime kick-off.

The Stones go into the game on a mixed run of form, having impressively defeated Boston United last Saturday before succumbing to a narrow defeat on Tuesday night at home to Halifax Town.

News From The Vale

Striker Luke Norris was described as having “hopefully a chance” of playing on Saturday by Gary Waddock after Tuesday’s defeat. The forward has missed the last two league fixtures but is closest to a return of those currently sidelined.

Defender Dion Conroy remains around four weeks away from a return, while striker Admiral Muskwe is still in the treatment room having not yet kicked a ball in competitive action for the Stones.

Joe Newton is a doubt for the match after being substituted early at Boston with a hamstring complaint.

The Opposition

Tamworth go into the match currently placed third from bottom in the Enterprise National League table, having won just once so far this season.

They were also defeated in midweek away to Southend United, with former Stone Nathan Tshikuna scoring their only goal on the night in a 3-1 loss.

Tshikuna was an instrumental part of the Wealdstone side that achieved a 15th-placed finish last season, contributing eight league goals and four assists in his time at The Vale.

With two goals already this season, The Stones know all too well that they will need to keep their former midfielder quiet if they are to achieve a positive result at the CR MOT Community Stadium.

Wealdstone were the victors the last time the sides met in March, with goals from Dylan Kadji, Micah Obiero and Sean Adarkwa enough to seal a 3-2 win.

The sides have faced each other on four previous occasions with The Stones winning one match, Tamworth winning two and the other ending in a draw.
