REACTION: “The Better Team Won” – Waddock On Wealdstone Cup Woe

GARY WADDOCK conceded his Wealdstone team was beaten fair and square as they exited The Emirates FA Cup at the First Round stage in Kent earlier today.

“Dover were the better side and they deserved to win,” he explained.

“I want to congratulate them as I thought their performance was really good. The better team won – and they went on to win the game really comfortably.”

The Stones’ boss was also keen to let fans know he’s well aware the team’s display wasn’t at the level required.

“I’d like to apologise to all our supporters; both those who travelled down today and the ones back home,” he said.

“It was a really disappointing performance and disappointing result.

“As I said, I’ve apologised to our supporters because we’re out of The FA Cup now and that definitely wasn’t the plan.”

December Fixtures Update

Wealdstone’s exit means the Enterprise National League home fixture against Woking will go ahead as planned on FA Cup Round Two weekend. It’s on December 4 (7.45pm), which means a second Friday night under the lights at The Vale.

Pre-Christmas knock-out action will come in the shape of The FA Trophy, with the Stones – looking to emulate their run to Wembley last season – joining in Round Three, to be played on Saturday December 12.

Before then, November’s schedule continues with a trip this Saturday (November 14) to Hartlepool United for league action. Click HERE to buy tickets for that one.

And it’s back at home the weekend after, when Hornchurch visit The Vale for another important league match (Saturday November 21, 3pm ko).
