ENZIO BOLDEWIJN leaves Wealdstone Football Club with sincere thanks for his contribution across two memorable seasons – and with endearing tributes from club chairman Rory Fitzgerald and manager Gary Waddock.
Enzio and the Stones part ways with the Dutchman having clocked up 100 appearances in the famous Royal Blue.
Long journeys for work and young families rarely mix well, thus the 33-year-old former Notts County star is set to sign for a club closer to his Cotswolds home.
A truly versatile operator, Enzio has racked up a huge number of admirers drawn from right across the supporter base and club officials – all of whom will remember fondly his leadership, consistency and flexibility; an ability to play in many positions with fantastic ability, aptitude and courage.
“What a true professional on and off the pitch,” said Wealdstone chairman Fitzgerald, a huge admirer of Enzio the man – just as much as the player.
“He’s a leader and a gentleman and an individual I personally value very highly.
“I will be sad to see him leave but he goes with our best wishes for every future success.”
A part of successive manager’s player leadership groups, Enzio epitomised the qualities Wealdstone looks for in technical ability, character and determination.
Added manager Waddock: “Thanks to Enzio for being the model professional that he is and setting the standard that’s required to play for as long as he has.
“Good luck to him for his next challenge. It’s no surprise to me that he retains the hunger to play on.”
Cruelly robbed of a Wembley appearance through injury, he featured just over 100 times for the Stones, scoring eight goals in two seasons at The Vale.
All Stones now join together in wishing Enzio and his family well for the next chapter.
